1. Could you briefly introduce your department?

It is a 4-year undergraduate department where graduates receive the title of physiotherapist. Physiotherapist is a professional person who applies physiotherapy and rehabilitation-specific treatment in cases of pain dysfunction and disease, if directed by the relevant branch physician, and has the autonomy to determine an individual-specific exercise program and to provide health counseling in the case of healthy individuals.

The diseases that physiotherapists work with show a wide spectrum from sports injuries to neurological diseases and congenital disabilities.

2. In general, what are the lessons taught?

In the first year, the foundation is formed with courses such as anatomy, physiology, neuroanatomy and hydrotherapy.

In the second year, the principles of introductory treatment movements, basic measurement-evaluation methods specific to physiotherapy, manual therapy, electrotherapy, etc. we have lessons.

In the third year, courses such as cardiopulmonary rehabilitation, pediatric rehabilitation, neurophysiological approaches, hand rehabilitation, sports physiotherapy are taught in order to learn the specific applications of rehabilitation.

In the last year, what is learned through the practices in Trakya University Training and Research Hospital is put into practice.

3. If any; Can you tell us about your laboratories and workshops? Or can you give information about your special education areas or facilities to your department?

There are 3 laboratories in our department.

In the electrotherapy laboratory, which is the first of these, there are devices used in heat, light and electrotherapy applications. It is used for educational purposes.

In our exercise laboratory, there are beds and other exercise equipment where we perform rehabilitation practices.

In our fall risk measurement and monitoring laboratory, which is the latest addition to our department, there are equipment that can perform motion analysis and gait analysis with mobile sensors. In addition, the content of many basic and vocational courses in the training program is supported with a professional virtual reality device. With these devices, our students can practice one-on-one. In the laboratory, there is a jolting treadmill, which is only available in our lab in Turkey and can be used in lectures and protective rehabilitation areas. Apart from these, there are other equipment used in measurement and training. With these features, our department is one of the limited number of departments that can combine education and technology.

4. If any; What are the overseas education opportunities offered to department students?

Our students; Our department can participate in Erasmus and Mevlana programs that provide internship and education mobility abroad, and also benefit from Farabi mobility within the scope of domestic mobility.

5. Is there any national or international organization specific to your department, attended or organized by you?

International Balkan Prosthesis-Orthotics Symposium was hosted by our department. In addition, necessary preparations have been completed for the 2nd time of this event to be held in Kosovo. In addition, support was given to the 10th International prosthesis-orthotics congress and the preparations for the 11th one were contributed. Apart from these, many national symposiums, congresses and workshops are organized. Within the scope of the Physiotherapy Days of Thrace, which was held for the 4th time in 2021, the "technology in rehabilitation" symposium and physical activity symposiums were organized with national participation. In addition, TÜFAST and different1Youth societies established by physiotherapy students in our school are actively working on these issues. In addition, our department hosted the first two national physiotherapy and rehabilitation student congresses.

6. What are the main business areas that students can work in after graduating from your department?

Our department offers the opportunity to work in many different fields after graduation.

7. What would be your advice to the candidates who will choose your department?

Candidates who will work in this profession, which requires close contact with people and long-term work, must have strong communication skills and be patient.

I would advise students who will make a choice to visit professionals, ask their questions about the profession in detail, and choose after receiving their opinions.
